Get started!

Making a sale isn't easy. Otherwise, everyone would be doing it.

Entrepreneur's Barry Farber offers 3 suggestions to getting your animal business started:

1) Activity increases confidence. Feeling unsure of your abilities? Consider volunteering in order to gain confidence (and contacts!). Being active in your field of interest will help you feel more confident about your ability.

2) Success breeds success. After making a sale, go out and try to make 5 more. New customers will see your enthusiasm and excitement and will be more likely to want to work with you.

3) Push your comfort zone. Have you been avoiding that "tough customer" who has a grumpy reputation? Shake things up and set up an appointment. What's the worst that can happen?

The hardest part of getting started was just GETTING STARTED. I guess I was just expecting clients to come to me.

But then I started putting myself out there, and word spread pretty quickly that I was available (and dang good) and things started picking up.

Showing up is half the battle, right, Rudy?

Awhile back, I bumped into a vet at a horse show. He had a reputation as being tough on massage practitioners.

But he was waiting in line for some food, so I jumped in with him and started a conversation. Now he refers me clients all the time.

I think that catching him in a place where he was out of his element really helped.

I'm grateful that i took the chance.

Somebody once told me that the only person who gets up in morning with YOUR name at the top of the list is YOU.

You have to go out there and make your opportunities. Sounds like both of you are doing just that.

Keep it up!
